Goals:

ll corso è articolato in 3 moduli, il primo modulo destinato a tutti, con una introduzione di carattere generale all'HPC,  la seconda un po' più specifica per i ricercatori con conoscenze di base di programmazione, la terza dedicata al processing di dati omici utilizzando il calcolo ad alte prestazioni.

Course program:

Modulo 1 - Introduction to HPC 

Overview of high-performance computing (HPC). Introduction to infrastructure and resources available at CINECA for D34H researchers. Hands-on session covering Linux command-line basics, software module environments, and SLURM for job scheduling and execution.

Modulo 2 - Machine Learning & Deep Learning on HPC

Running Jupyter notebooks in HPC environments; GPU-accelerated computing with Python (e.g., CuPy, RAPIDS); introduction to machine learning and deep learning using real-world life science examples; distributed training with PyTorch across multiple nodes and GPUs

Modulo 3 - Bioinformatics & Workflow Management 

Introduction to Parabricks, a GPU-accelerated toolkit for high-throughput genomics analysis, and Snakemake, a workflow management system that enables scalable and reproducible pipelines on HPC clusters.

The UnitelmaSapienza UNESCO Chair on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Comparative Law has produced a series of 20 virtual dialogues, each about 30 minutes long, to verify the impact of the UNESCO Convention on intangible cultural heritage in different countries: France, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Burkina Faso.

Il corso, extracurriculare, è aperto ed è rivolto a tutti gli interessati appartenenti a UnitelmaSapienza; inoltre, essendo il Prof. Ottavio De Bertolis anche Cappellano della Sapienza, è concepito come una proposta formativa rivolta ai fedeli stessi della Cappella Universitaria Sapienza e in generale ad ogni interessato.
